“The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”

I think this verse completely captures that of a father or a parent of a child. Its funny this book starts out talking about the destruction that God is going to dish out, and half way through it (2:3) it basically says, “wait there is hope” for those who know Him and listen. I know most of us at this time, are thinking, “Yep I knew there was a catch, of course I have to know the guy to be protected”. Now hold your horses! Going back to this idea of a father, I think about how my father would have killed anyone who tried to harm me. And I remembered that most of the time my family was a group that I could be protected in. Now think about the father, God, protecting his family and destroying those who decided they weren’t apart of his family. If he were in the mafia, we would be getting ready to see the gore of all those who apposed. But we are not, so God says there is hope for those who still want to be in the family. Of course, by living as if you were apart of the family, doing as the family does.

Lastly, in the last chapter, the verse that the song is on 3:17 is the most amazing picture I see. God said I will destroy all that are against my family (Chad’s words not his), so if you are not with me you are against me. But most importantly, like a parent tucking a child in bed at night, this book ends perfectly by saying that God will wrap us up in his strength as a creator of life and new hope, He is proud and gets excited to see that we are his, He chases away our fears with the same love that sent Christ… but here is what might seem a little silly to some; He sings to us telling us that we bring him to laughter, to tears, to rejoicing.

So, let this song be a reminder, that God looks over you with joy, and has sent this message to you as one who sings a song for one they love. Its a crazy thing really, right now the world is quite so that God can be thankful for you.
